The short version: this site collects nothing about you unless you choose to send feedback. No accounts, no analytics, no advertising, no trackers, and no cookies.

Borrowed Sunlight is a static website — a landing page and a novel you read in your browser. There is no login, no comment box, and no newsletter. The one place you can send anything is an optional feedback form on the home page; if you never use it, nothing about you is collected. The sections below say exactly what does and does not happen when you visit.

What we collect

By default, nothing personal. We do not ask for, receive, or store your name, email address, or any other identifying information, and we build no profile of you or your reading. The only exception is the optional feedback form described below — and only if you fill it in and press Send.

Cookies

This site sets no cookies — none for advertising, none for analytics, none for anything else. Because there are no cookies and no tracking, there is no cookie banner to click through.

What stays in your browser

To make reading comfortable, the reader saves a few small things using your browser’s local storage. This information stays on your device, is never sent to us or anyone else, and you can clear it any time. It covers:

• your reading position, so you can pick up where you left off;
• any bookmarks you set;
• your settings, such as theme and text size.

Local storage is not a cookie and is not transmitted with your requests. To remove it, clear your browser’s site data for this site, or use a private/incognito window.

The feedback form

The home page has an optional “tell the author” form. It is the only part of the site that sends anything off your device, and only when you choose to submit it.

• What it sends: the star rating you pick, any message you type, and — only if you add it — your email address.
• Where it goes: to the author (Karl Meves / ERRERlabs) via Netlify Forms, our host’s built-in form handling. Submissions are stored in Netlify’s dashboard and are visible only to the author.
• What it’s used for: to read your feedback and, if you left an email, to reply — nothing else. It is never published on the site, sold, or shared, and it is not used for advertising or to build a profile.
• If you don’t use it: nothing is sent and nothing is stored. The rating and message are optional; the email is optional on top of that.

Netlify processes the submission on our behalf as the site’s host and form provider; see Netlify’s own privacy terms for how they handle it. To have a submission you’ve sent removed, email errerlabs@gmail.com and we’ll delete it.

Analytics & advertising

There are none. We run no analytics scripts, embed no third-party trackers, and show no ads. The pages load no external scripts, fonts, images, or frames; everything needed to read the book is contained in the page itself.

Hosting

The site is served as static files by Netlify. Like virtually all web hosts, Netlify may automatically process limited technical information — such as your IP address and browser type — in order to deliver the pages and keep them secure, and it also handles the optional feedback form above. This is standard hosting, not tracking by us, and we do not combine it with anything else or use it to identify you.

Your rights

Unless you’ve sent the feedback form, we hold no personal data about you, so there is nothing for us to access, correct, export, or delete — the only data tied to your use of the site lives in your own browser and is fully under your control. If you have sent feedback and want it removed, email errerlabs@gmail.com and we’ll delete it.

Changes

If this policy changes, the “last updated” date above will change with it.
